Grey's Anatomy Teases Another Big Character Return, and We Have a Theory

Grey's Anatomy is packing in some notable cameos this season. Following the shocking return of Meredith Grey's late husband Derek Shepherd in the season 17 premiere, the show teased that another person from her past will be appearing in the upcoming episode titled "You'll Never Walk Alone," which is set to air on Dec. 3.

In the latest episode titled "My Happy Ending," which aired on Nov. 19, it's revealed that Meredith has contracted COVID-19. As she struggles with her symptoms, she slips in and out and has visions that she is on a beach with Derek. In a preview for the upcoming episode, we see Meredith approach someone else on the beach, but we don't see their face.

Naturally, fans have already started theorizing who it could be. Seeing that Meredith appears to be having another vision, it's likely that it is someone who is no longer alive. So far, the most popular theory is Meredith's half-sister Lexie Grey. She was first introduced in season three and appeared on the show until season eight. In the season eight finale, she and her on-and-off-again boyfriend Mark Sloan sustained injuries from an aviation accident and eventually died. Seattle Grace Mercy West was eventually renamed Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in their memory. Is it possible that Grey's Anatomy is planning to bring back Lexie and Mark? Our fingers are crossed! Watch the teaser below as you get ready for the upcoming episode.
