Apr 20 2020 - 11:10am

Mother Monster has a beautiful message for her fans, and she delivered it with an iconic cover.

On Saturday, April 18, Lady Gaga [1] kicked off the One World: Together at Home [2] special with a performance of classic Charlie Chaplin tune "Smile" on her piano from the comfort of her home. Before her performance, the 34-year-old "Stupid Love" singer [3], who, according to host Jimmy Fallon [4], "put this entire evening together," took a moment to address viewers and thank them for watching.

"I feel very honored to be a part of the World Health Organization and Global Citizen in the fight against COVID-19 and raising money for the Solidarity Response Fund," she said. "I care so much about all of the medical workers that are putting their lives at risk for us right now. I think of them every day, I pray for them every day, and I'm also thinking of all of you that are at home, who are wondering when this is all going to be different. What I'd like to do tonight, if I can, is just give you the permission to, for a moment, smile."

The One World: Together at Home special [6] is a first-of-its-kind global broadcast event dedicated to the healthcare workers working on the front lines to fight the COVID-19 outbreak. The special featured celebrities — like Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Elton John, Kacy Musgraves, and more — who pitched in to celebrate and support the healthcare workers by featuring their stories, while also highlighting the commitments philanthropists have made and lifting the spirits of people around the globe.
