Turns Out 2 More Couples Got Engaged Off Screen on "Love Is Blind" Season 2

Feb 22 2022 - 2:50pm

As we patiently wait to see which "Love Is Blind" season two [1] couples wind up tying the knot, we just learned that two additional pairs got engaged on the Netflix dating series, but their postpod journeys weren't filmed. On Feb. 17, Netflix revealed the two couples who didn't make the final cut: Kara Williams and Jason Beaumont, and Caitlin McKee and Joey Miller. Both got engaged in the pods and met for the first time on the red carpet, but they ultimately didn't embark on the group trip to Mexico. Their love stories did continue after the dating experiment, but no camera crews were around to capture them.

Explaining his decision to not focus on these relationships [2], show creator Chris Coelen said, "You only have so many crews and so much budget and so much time. It would be amazing to follow everybody, but you just have to decide what feels like a good group to follow." (Read: You have to decide what feels like the most drama-filled, good-for-TV group to follow.) He also told Variety, [3] "It's a lot of guesswork, to be honest. We don't know what's gonna happen. In season one, we were following Kenny Barnes and Kelly Chase [4], and we were like, it's gonna be so boring. They're gonna say yes, and, of course, they're getting married. And they didn't. We had no idea and continue to have no idea what's going to happen in the stories that we choose."

"Love Is Blind [5]" season two follows six main couples — Shayne Jansen and Natalie Lee, Abhishek "Shake" Chatterjee and Deepti Vempati, Nick Thompson and Danielle Ruhl, Jarrette Jones and Iyanna McNeely, Mallory Zapata and Salvador Perez, and Shaina Hurley and Kyle Abrams — as they fall in love, get engaged sight unseen, vacation in Mexico, and plan their future weddings together in just a few weeks' time. Although Hurley and Abrams decide to go their separate ways upon returning to Chicago, the rest are set to head down the aisle in the "Love Is Blind" finale on Feb. 25. While we wait to see the drama unfold later this week, read ahead to meet the contestants who hit it off unbeknownst to fans, and learn their current relationship statuses.

Caitlin McKee and Joey Miller

McKee, a 31-year-old who works in medical software sales, and Miller, a 30-year-old business strategy consultant, quickly developed a bond in the pods and got engaged. However, they are no longer together.

Discussing their relationship on Instagram, McKee wrote, "What you didn't see is that I also found love in the pods and left the show with a fiancé. @millerj5001 and I had an amazing summer and fall with the opportunity to travel, meet each other's families, and build a genuine relationship without the cameras and crew. Although we ultimately chose to go our separate ways recently, we are choosing to remain friends and he will always hold a special place in my heart."

Miller echoed similar sentiments in his own Instagram post [7] shared on the same day. "We vibed from first pod date, got WAY deep WAY fast, surprised each other with Drumsticks/tacos/Tequila/Bieber serenades, got engaged without ever seeing each other, and had an amazing summer and fall together without all the cameras," he wrote. "Grateful to @loveisblindnetflix for introducing me to such a strong, caring, and compassionate woman. We are no longer together, but absolutely fell in love blindly."

Jason Beaumont and Kara Williams

Beaumont, a31-year-old flight attendant, and Williams, a 31-year-old client service manager, followed a similar relationship trajectory as McKee and Miller. Though they got engaged during the dating experiment, they have since broken things off.

In a lengthy Instagram caption [8], Beaumont wrote, "Kara has been one of the most charismatic, loving, & supportive people I've ever met, she is hands down one of the strongest women I've ever been around. Getting to see her on the red carpet was without a doubt the best feeling I've ever had in my entire life, it's gives me goosebumps just thinking about how beautiful she looked. . . . Unfortunately, we have since parted ways, but that will never take away the feelings & love I had for her throughout this process. Although our relationship was not featured, it was still authentic. Kara & I had conversations in 10 days, that had never even come up in my previous long term relationships."

Williams, meanwhile, has not posted about her relationship with Beaumont and appears to be dating a new man in Chicago, based on her Instagram Stories.
