Fresh off the release of his fifth studio album, Papi Juancho [1], Maluma made his grand return to the MTV VMAs [2] stage on Sunday. Clad in a yellow suit, the 26-year-old Latin superstar [3] virtually transported us to paradise with his energetic performance of his hit song "Hawái." [4] Though the track is about a failed romance, Maluma seemed anything but sad as he took over the remote stage, which resembled a drive-in movie theater. The performance marked Maluma's second time performing at the ceremony following his 2018 debut [5], where he made history as the first solo Latin artist to sing a full song in Spanish at the show. Maluma also took home his first Moon Person for best Latin [6] for his song "Qué Pena" with J Balvin.
