The Friday Drop: Bad Bunny, Ariana Grande, Jonas Brothers, and More New Music This Week

Oct 30 2020 - 3:52pm

It's that time of the week again, so get ready for some new music. In case you haven't heard yet, Ariana Grande [1] dropped a whole album on us, and it's filled to the brim with cheeky references [2]. Sam Smith also dropped their new album, Love Goes, and Bad Bunny released his highly anticipated collaboration with Jhay Cortez. Not to mention, we have some new holiday music [3] that'll make you say, "Halloween [4], who?" As POPSUGAR editors, my colleagues and I love discussing our new weekly music finds, so check out our recommendations in the latest edition of The Friday Drop ahead.

"Dákiti" by Bad Bunny and Jhay Cortez

"Bad Bunny has been putting out hit after hit all year long, and his latest collab with Jhay Cortez does not disappoint. The song instantly puts me in a good mood and makes me want to dance. I'll definitely be playing this one on repeat all weekend!" — Monica Sisavat, editor, celebrity and entertainment

"Just Like Magic" by Ariana Grande

"I'm really big on manifesting, speaking things into existence, and exuding the energy you want to receive, so this song really resonates with me. I also love the message of self-love as Ari affirms her worth and right to be happy. This entire track is a big mood." — Brea Cubit, assistant editor, celebrity and entertainment

"Kids Again" by Sam Smith

"It's easy to get lost in Sam Smith's new album, Love Goes, as he takes us through a journey of heartbreak and healing. The standout track for me is 'Kids Again,' which is all about looking back at a relationship and cherishing the memories, but knowing you're ready to move on. I highly recommend listening to this one with tissues nearby." — Monica Sisavat, editor, celebrity and entertainment

"It’s Not Christmas Till Somebody Cries" by Carly Rae Jepsen

"I'm all for the cheery, jolly, holly, merry, and bright Christmas songs, but we'd be kidding ourselves if we didn't admit all families have some tension during the holidays. Carly Rae Jepsen sings about all of the things that make spending time with the family special: from your mom feeding your vegan boyfriend fish to bringing up politics. It's a perfect pop jingle to throw on whenever you need to just nod along and say, 'Somebody gets it!'" — Charisandra Perez, social media and partnerships coordinator

"Look Over Your Shoulder" by Busta Rhymes feat. Kendrick Lamar

"I'm a simple woman: I see 'Kendrick Lamar' on a song, and I listen to it without hesitation. This track features his first new verse of the year, so I can finally stop DMing him to drop something. (Just kidding, when you're a genius like Lamar, you can work on your own time.) But let's not breeze over the fact that this is Busta Rhymes' song, and it was truly a labor of love as the rapper explained to Apple Music's Zane Lowe [5]. "It just was unbelievable, and incredible, and just profound for me to be blessed with this gift," he said. Well, now we've been blessed with this gift." — Brea Cubit, assistant editor, celebrity and entertainment

"I Need You Christmas" by Jonas Brothers

"The Jonas Brothers's new Christmas song is a complete 180 from their upbeat holiday track 'Like It's Christmas' from last year, but I love it just the same. Something about the tune just makes me want to sit by the Christmas tree in flannel pajamas, but also cry into my hot cocoa. And don't even get me started on the brothers' sweet harmonies. Can they please make a Christmas album already?" — Kelsie Gibson, editor, celebrity and entertainment

"Fever" by Dua Lipa and Angèle

"OK, Dua Lipa and Angèle did THAT! I love everything about this song, from the intoxicating beat to Angèle singing in French. It's an absolute banger!" — Monica Sisavat, editor, celebrity and entertainment

"Under The Mistletoe" by Kelly Clarkson and Brett Eldredge

"While most people would argue Mariah Carey [6] is the Queen of Christmas (myself included), Kelly Clarkson [7] is certainly a princess. Her newest holiday jam with Brett Eldredge is full of all of the charm and magic of a Christmas morning. It makes me want to dress up in all red and jingle the day away — even though it's still October!" — Charisandra Perez, social media and partnerships coordinator

"Ginger" by WizKid feat. Burna Boy

"My hips have not stopped winding since I played this song. I might have to see a doctor about that." — Brea Cubit, assistant editor, celebrity and entertainment
