If You Love "Friends," Watch These 11 Shows Like It on Netflix

Apart from being another hit '90s show that ran for nearly 10 seasons, "Seinfeld" follows the misadventures of a group of friends living in New York City just like "Friends." "Seinfeld" sets itself apart slightly in that it centers around a zany, fictionalized version of real-life stand-up comedian Jerry Seinfeld and his fellow neurotic friends.

Unlike most of the shows on this list that take place in luxury apartments in major metropolitan areas, "Community" takes place mainly on a community college campus. The show centers on a disgraced lawyer who forms a Spanish study group in an effort to woo one of his classmates, only to form lasting friendships (and romances) with the ragtag group of students who show up to participate.

"Gilmore Girls" centers on the relationship between Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham), a 30-something single mother, and her teen daughter, Rory (Alexis Bledel), as they live their lives together in the quaint town of Stars Hollow, CT. While the show is a dramedy rather than a sitcom, some key elements of the show make it "Friends" adjacent. The fast-talking cadence of the cast's line delivery makes it feel more like a sitcom than a drama, and Lorelai provides endless hilarious zingers throughout the show's seven seasons. Just as many of "Friends"'s most iconic scenes take place at a local Central Park coffee shop, "Gilmore Girls"'s go-to hang-out spot for its cast of characters is Lorelai's love interest Luke's diner.

The characters in "On My Block" are significantly younger than Ross, Rachel, Chandler, and the rest of the "Friends" crew, but the show's core is still very similar: it follows a group of friends coming of age in South Central Los Angeles. Much like "Friends," each character has their own dreams and passions, and their deep friendships grow and transform throughout its four-season run. But where "Friends" fell short in its lack of diversity — it starred nearly all white people throughout its 10-season run, despite taking place in New York City in the '90s — "On My Block"'s cast of Latine characters is much more true to life.

Though this friend group is a few decades older than the "Friends" cast, these former Harvard classmates are struggling just as much to get their acts together in their 40s. With a cast that includes "How I Met Your Mother"'s Cobie Smulders and "Key & Peele"'s Keegan-Michael Key, it's impossible not to get caught in "Friends From College"'s romantic and nostalgic entanglements.

Just like "Friends," this British comedy revolves around a group of six 20-somethings all living together — though in this case, they have a slightly less swanky abode than Monica and Rachel's rent-controlled Manhattan apartment. "Crashing" takes place in an abandoned hospital, where the crew acts as property guardians to keep watch over the building in exchange for cheap rent and a strict set of rules. Even with this change of scenery, you can expect as many romances and wacky situations as ever.

This comedic gem from Tina Fey did not get a fair shake. Briga Heelan stars as a local news producer whose new job is complicated by the fact that her mother (Andrea Martin) gets an internship at the station. Filled with over-the-top characters, "Great News" is a closer companion to "30 Rock," but it's still worth checking out as a "Friends" fix. Unceremoniously canceled by NBC, both seasons live on Netflix.

Though far zanier than the "Friends" crew, the dysfunctional friend group on "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" is what we imagine a Harlem basement apartment full of Phoebe Buffays would feel like. When you take a former mole woman, an outrageous out-of-work actor, an eccentric landlord, and a delusional divorcée, things are bound to get hilariously weird.

Though this show revolves around a chlamydia diagnosis (yes, you read that right), it is actually a surprisingly tender exploration of the romantic trials and failures of three best friends over the years, each episode filling in more details about Lothario Dylan's many romances and how this trio of friends eventually came together. Think "How I Met Your Mother," but instead of leading up to Ted's mystery woman, the show leads up to every woman Dylan potentially infected (but learned from along the way).

Of all of these shows, "One Day at a Time" may be the most similar to "Friends" in writing style and tone, though rather than following a group of friends that become family, this sitcom reboot revolves around an actual Cuban-American family as they navigate life's challenges together. The perfect mix of heart and laughs, this show is as easy and enjoyable to watch as a "Friends" marathon.

Loosely based on Aziz Ansari's real-life experiences, "Master of None" takes a familiar premise and makes it feel refreshingly offbeat. This show also revolves around a group of New York-based friends and their personal struggles with careers and romances, but it also portrays struggles with identity, generational differences, and sexuality that you rarely (if ever) find with the "Friends" crew.
