The bad news: Netflix is only releasing three new movies in September (but come on, we can't expect them to churn out a dozen movies every month). The good news: all of them look really freaking good. With a slapstick comedy, a psychological thriller, and an eagerly anticipated rom-com original set to premiere, we have three new reasons to keep paying for our Netflix subscription next month (like we ever questioned that anyway). And let's not forget all of the new and returning TV series we can also expect in September. Here are the three new movies to add to your must-watch list next month.
Based on the long-running Funny or Die sketch series starring Zach Galifianakis, this movie will follow the story of what happens when Will Ferrell discovers the Between Two Ferns talk show on public access television and uploads it to YouTube, turning Galifianakis into a laughing stock who must go on a journey to restore his tainted reputation.
When it's available: Sept. 20
This psychological thriller — which stars Boyd Holbrook, Cleopatra Coleman, and Michael C. Hall — takes place in 1988 Philadelphia, following a police officer as he struggles with his lifelong obsession to track down a mysterious serial killer, whose crimes are just as bizarre as they are gruesome. Anyone else getting some Dexter vibes?
