The World That We Knew by Alice Hoffman
Writer Alice Hoffman is no stranger to magical realism, and in The World That We Knew, she puts a beautiful spin on a story that, at its core, is about good versus evil. The book picks up in 1941 Berlin, where a mother sends her young daughter, Lea, away to the home of a renowned rabbi in hopes of her escaping the Nazi regime closing in around them.
