"Flames" by R3HAB & Zayn & Jungleboi

Zayn, born Jan. 12, is one of the most unexpected examples of a Capricorn, being rebellious and not necessarily someone who colors within the lines. That being said, Zayn is still notoriously hardworking, pragmatic (he was the first to visualize and pursue his life after 1D), and sensitive (could even say brooding . . .). "Flames" by R3HAB featuring Zayn and Jungleboi has the mysterious, sexy ambiance the former One Directioner has become known for.

"Still Into You" by Paramore

Paramore, one of the best bands of the late 2000s and early 2010s (an opinion, yes, but also a fact! Ignorance anyone?), is where vocalist Hayley Williams (born Dec. 27) flourished and became the multicolor-haired, superenergetic artist she is today. Capricorns are known to achieve their goals no matter how out there or crazy, just because they're that passionate and hardworking. Sure, they can be stubborn, but that means they can achieve their vision to a T! Williams is one of the most unique artists of her generation, from her goosebump-inducing voice to her covetable rainbow hair.

"Preach" by John Legend

John Legend, born Dec. 28, has always been known as one of the most hardworking, disciplined musicians out there. A family guy at heart (With Chrissy Teigen, Luna, and Miles, how could anyone not be though?), Legend is a true Capricorn through how grounded he is, yet sensitive as shown through his lyrics (I still cry when I see the All of Me video – it's been 20 times already). With his latest solo single "Preach," Legend continues to showcase his realistic vision of the world and political stance, yet always through raw emotion.

"golden thing" by Cody Simpson

Ah, Miley and Cody . . . whatever you may think of the new, PDA-loving couple, the song "golden thing" by Cody Simpson (Jan. 11), is a beautiful, heartfelt love letter to Miley Cyrus that could make even the biggest non-believer tear up a bit. With soft guitar strums and lyrics like "I sing softly to her in the last daylight / And the chorus of birds in the heights of night / And if we could be heard for whatever it's worth / the rulers in the sky they'd cry," this song showcases the beauty and mystery of a new relationship and really lets all of us in to understand it. Capricorns are motivated and ambitious, but they can be the most sensitive out of the entire zodiac.

"Cellophane" by FKA Twigs

Is there anything more indicative of a Capricorn personality than training as a pole dancer for more than a year to perfect your moves for a music video? The English all-around artist FKA Twigs (Jan. 16) is the epitome of hardworking and motivated, and someone who is stubborn enough to know when to fight for her vision, because it is AMAZING and people just need to see it to understand it. Never one to be someone she isn't, the singer-songwriter wows all of us in "Cellophane," a song rumored to be about her split from Robert Pattison, yet more than anything, gives us a look inside her heart and psyche.

"Jolene" by Dolly Parton

Dolly Parton (Jan. 19) has always been known as one of the most hardworking artists in the business (she even wrote a song about it!). Born in poverty, Parton carved out a space for herself in the world, performing on radio stations as a child and eventually finding success as a songwriter first. The writer of songs such as "I Will Always Love You" (Yes, that one!) and the forever favorite "Jolene," Parton is still showcasing her Capricorn ambition today at 73 years old, releasing Heartstrings, a Netflix series about her songs and some of her life, performing at festivals, and collaborating with other artists (She was even set to remix "Old Town Road," which isn't happening anymore, but really wish it was!).

"No Ordinary Love" by Sade

Born Jan. 16, Helen Folasade Adu, the Nigerian-British singer better known to the world as Sade, represents the sensitive sensuality of those born during Capricorn season. Known for their slow seduction (although sometimes a bit too well thought out), this side of Capricorns is completely exemplified by Sade's soulful music.

"Self Care" by Mac Miller

Mac Miller (born Jan. 19), a legend in the making who heartbreakingly passed away in 2018, was the true epitome of being extremely talented while also managing to be one of the most hardworking rappers in the music industry. Learning guitar, bass, piano, and drums by the humble age of 6, Miller rose to rap fame as a young teenager through his super-Capricornian, independent work ethic. With a posthumous album Circles out on Jan. 17, it seems that we will thankfully still have more of his music to enjoy, as bittersweet that may be.

"I Don't Like You" by Grace VanderWaal

Singer-songwriter Grace VanderWaal (Jan. 15), at just 15 years old, is already the most amazing cross between Taylor Swift and whispery, indie musician Cat Power, while still being completely unique ever since her beginnings on America's Got Talent with her ukulele. "I Don't Like You" is the anthem you didn't know you needed, and other songs like "So Much More Than This" are both catchy and lyrically meaningful.

"Hate Me" by Ellie Goulding and Juice WRLD

By now, Ellie Goulding (Dec. 30) can be seen as an absolute musical powerhouse: with countless hits, including personal faves "Love Me Like You Do," "Burn," and "Lights," it seems like everything Goulding touches turns to glitter, leading her to Grammy nominations and even to sing Prince William and Kate Middleton's first dance song. Starting out professionally while at the University of Kent, the electropop singer has spoken about her DIY approach to jumpstarting her music career, such as entering and winning a college music competition. As a Capricorn, Goulding's success has not just come through talent, but nonstop hard work and the endless motivation that defines the sign.

"Cántalo" by Ricky Martin, Residente, and Bad Bunny

Although Capricorns are infamous for being "by the book" or too goal oriented, their energy and drive can also make them super fun to go out with for drinks, and sometimes even fantastic performers through their motivation and work ethic. Ricky Martin, born Dec. 24, is part of this group, known throughout the world as one of the best entertainers to ever exist (Singing? Dancing? Acting? Broadway? No problem!). Performing ever since he was a young child in Puerto Rico as part of the band Menudo, Martin has never stopped working (the Devil works hard, but Capricorns work harder) yet is also known for his innate passion, rhythm, and love for the arts, showcased in his latest hit "Cántalo."

"Run Me Dry" by Bryson Tiller

Louisville, KY, native Bryson Tiller (born Jan. 2) started rapping at the age of 15 years old and eventually rose to fame through SoundCloud after spending time providing for his daughter Harley with jobs at Papa John's Pizza and UPS. Armed with the extreme motivation and confidence of a Capricorn, Tiller achieved success independently through his SoundCloud song "Don't." A miracle to some, or maybe just the sum of his hard work.

"Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?" by Arctic Monkeys

Arctic Monkeys, one of the most influential, inventive, artistic rock bands of the 2000s onward, is led by the jawdroppingly talented (not to mention cute! And British!) Alex Turner, born Jan. 6. As the frontman and principal songwriter of the band, Turner has been the mastermind of hits such as "R U Mine?" and "Fluorescent Adolescent" (listen to Kate Nash's version too for true early 2000s Myspace nostalgia!), showcasing his talent for raw lyrics and beautiful melodies. Even through the stereotypically hardworking Capricornian traits exhibited by roughing it in Sheffield, England, local bars before being discovered, Turner shows the sign's intense, passionate side as well. Also, Robert Pattinson is a fan!

"Lonely" by Noah Cyrus

Noah Cyrus (Jan. 8), the fifth child between Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus and Miley's younger sister, takes a stripped-down approach on one of her latest musical efforts, "Lonely." Reflecting on solitude, Cyrus's painfully beautiful voice becomes more urgent as she details her loneliness with lyrics such as "I don't have a romantic life," and "I'm still ashamed of who I used to be / So I try way too hard but I still miss the mark to fit in." Always authentic and realistic, even when it comes to themselves and their own feelings, one of Capricorns' most telling (and beautiful) traits is their honesty.

"Are You That Somebody" by Aaliyah

Aaliyah (Jan. 16), a near-mythical artist who will forever be revered for her unreal dancing techniques, soulful, soothing voice, and absolute beauty, lives on today through people's love for her and her music (Drake has been obsessed forevz, but honestly, practically everyone too, even Beyoncé!). She symbolized the perfect Capricornian contrast between sensitive and ambitious, topping the charts over and over until her heartbreaking death in 2001 at the age of 22.

BØRNS, born Garrett Clark Borns Jan. 7, is a kind of mystic alien singer-songwriter whose talent makes you want to live on his planet forever. "I Don't Want U Back" is one of his latest releases and it's just as astrologically perfect as his work before it.

"Duro y Suave" by Leslie Grace and Noriel

"Duro y Suave" is the song to get your makeup done to, drive around town to, dance at a club to . . . you get the idea. This is one of the catchiest urbano hits to be released in the last couple of years, and Leslie Grace (born Jan. 7) is a power player in the industry, who manages to be sweet, always stunning(Talk about a glow!), and absolutely powerful all at once.

"Starman" by David Bowie

How could anyone leave David Bowie (Jan. 8) out of a list relating to the zodiac? Notoriously associated with outer space, planets, and stars, Bowie was out of this world when it came down to his music composition, unlike anything else during the '70s, as well as his metallic outfits and platforms. An icon for the ages, Bowie was a Capricorn who showed the magic that can happen when work ethic is mixed with artistic genius. Stay tuned for the upcoming biopic starring Johnny Flynn!

"American Boy" by Estelle ft. Kanye West

Although Estelle (Jan. 18) has been off the musical radar in pop culture for some time, is there anyone who can truly forget the almost supernatural enchantment of "American Boy," featuring none other than Kanye West? Detailing a transcontinental romantic affair, the song managed to sound both Frank Sinatra classic and rhythmically new, and both European and, well, American. A singer, songwriter, rapper, record producer, and actress, Estelle might be off the radar, but she's still doing it all.

"No Lie" by Sean Paul ft. Dua Lipa

Jamaican rapper Sean Paul (Jan. 9) makes music that magically makes anyone want to dance and just simply never gets old. "Baby Boy" with Beyoncé is a forever bop, for example, and I am never letting go. One of his latest songs, "No Lie" featuring Dua Lipa, is bound to follow with its mesmerizing rhythm.
