It's not a spoiler alert anymore to mention that someone falls sick and/or dies in a movie based on a Nicholas Sparks book. It's just a given. Jamie's illness in A Walk to Remember is terminal leukemia, The Notebook's Allie has Alzheimer's, and Savannah marries a man with lymphoma in Dear John. In both The Lucky One and Safe Haven, one of the love interests is grieving the death of a beloved family member. Mark my words: one central character always dies in a Sparks movie. Always.
