The video for Post Malone's [1] song "I Like You (A Happier Song)," which features Doja Cat [2], certainly lives up to its title. It's a brightly colored ode to the joys of love that begins with shots of Post Malone [3] dancing around and painting in a room wallpapered with Vincent van Gogh's "Almond Blossoms." From there, he goes out to a field full of wildflowers where he meets up with Doja Cat, who is covered in flowers herself. At the end of the video, a woman's voice says in French, "Let's move forward with passion, with desire, and love." In between, shots of cupcakes, honey, bright-yellow smiley faces, and content-looking couples come together to cement the video's sunny mood.
Post Malone certainly has a lot to be joyful about right now. In an interview with Howard Stern [4] on June 13, he confirmed he and his fiancée welcomed a baby girl [5]. In an interview with Apple Music 1's Zane Lowe [6], he said he was "pumped beyond belief" to be a dad. "As a kid, I was like 4 or 5, and I had this little baby I would carry around everywhere," he said. "It was a baby doll. And I thought that was the coolest thing. I would take him around everywhere. And I don't know how long that lasted. But my mom still has it . . . I'm going to be a hot dad."
In January, he told Billboard [7] that "down the line, I just want to relax and enjoy the simple things. Be like a kid again. Have no responsibilities and everything is handled: your kids, your family, everybody is set and doesn't need to worry, so you can just play games and play in the tall grass." The video certainly seems to pay tribute to that vision.
"I Like You (A Happier Song)" is a track from Post Malone's most recent album, "Twelve Carat Toothache," which was released on June 3. Meanwhile, Doja Cat was in the headlines earlier in July for asking Noah Schnapp [8] if "Stranger Things [9]" breakout Joseph Quinn [10] had a girlfriend. Her most recent album was 2021's "Planet Her," but she's always releasing new singles, and her contribution to the "Elvis" soundtrack, "Vegas," [11] premiered on June 2.
