39 Major TV Shows Returning For New Seasons This Summer

Gone are the days of summer TV [1] being the land of bad reality shows and reruns — now, there are just as many must-watch shows [2] during the summer months as any other time of year! Summer 2021 is turning out to be a season of renewal and new hopes in a lot of different ways, and that attitude seems to be carrying over to the TV schedule as well.

Over the next few months, dozens of our favorite shows in every genre imaginable are coming back for new seasons [3], many of which have been off the air for months or even years [4]! High School Musical: The Musical: The Series

The scoop: Disney+'s tongue-in-cheek teen musical series is back for another year of high school drama (both the on and offstage kind). This year, the school is putting on a production of Beauty and the Beast, but the road to opening night is going to be far from a fairytale for our favorite Wildcats.

The scoop: Hallmark's long-running series returns for another summer in the small town of Middleton, with the Merriwick women at the center of it all.

The scoop: The Bravo reality series returns for its ninth (yes, ninth!) season of wild drama among the wealthy elite of Los Angeles.

Superman & Lois

The scoop: Following a two-month hiatus, the latest CW superhero show will return to finish its first season, with Clark, Lois, and their sons bracing for the threats to their family. The show has already been renewed for a second season.

The scoop: The FX comedy is airing its third and final season this summer. As hitman Ray mourns the loss of someone close to him and tries to keep his family together, he's also going "freelance" for the first time, which presents him with huge but dangerous opportunities.
