Roddy Ricch opened up Sunday's virtual 2020 BET Awards [1] with a timely performance that paid tribute to the ongoing Black Lives Matter movement [2], and the onstage visuals made it seem like a music video come to life. Ricch kicked off the show with a piano performance of his hit "High Fashion," followed by a simulation — set to his song "The Box" — of what it's like for him as a Black man to be pulled over by police [3]. Ricch, who wore a Black Lives Matter shirt during the show, continued the song in front of blue-tinted video projections of his hometown of Compton, CA, adding a personal touch to the already amazing performance.
