20 Great Romantic Comedies to Stream on Netflix Tonight
It's no secret that the last few years have been a bleak time for romantic comedies, though 2018 is bringing some new hopefuls to the genre. I don't know what happened to girls just standing in front of boys asking them to love them or why Tom Hanks isn't shutting down Meg Ryan's shop anymore; I just know that this genre isn't as good as it used to be. To help matters, I've picked out a handful of great romantic comedies that you can stream on Netflix — movies that are either old favorites, gems you may have never seen, or semirecent movies you missed for whatever reason. Get ready to fall in love again!
A Case of You
Check out A Case of You, in which Justin Long tries to romance Evan Rachel Wood by becoming her perfect man.
I Give It a Year
This 2013 movie beats the rule that recent romantic comedies aren't good by completely bending the rules. I won't give it away, but I Give It a Year is totally unpredictable but still very cute, and Rafe Spall and Rose Byrne are a gut-busting pair of newlyweds.
The Incredible Jessica James
Jessica Williams is effervescent in this indie romantic comedy about a young woman who's struggling in the aftermath of a breakup and in her aspirations as a playwright when she meets a guy who seems all wrong for her (Chris O'Dowd).
Bridget Jones's Baby
Bridget Jones, once a wandering waif, now has a very important job as a television producer. One problem: Bridget is pregnant and doesn't know who the father is. Hilarity ensues in Bridget Jones's Baby as possible baby daddies Mark Darcy and Jack Qwant fight for the leading lady's affection.
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson are irresistible to each other (and in general) in this modern screwball comedy about trying not to fall in love.
This romantic comedy classic is suitable for viewing anytime — not just the holidays.
The First Time
Real-life couple Britt Robertson and Dylan O'Brien play a couple of inexperienced high schoolers who let their guard down with each other and fall hard . . . for the first time.
Breakfast at Tiffany's
One of the most classic romantic comedies, Audrey Hepburn's Holly Golightly falls for her dashing neighbor while we fall for her, her lifestyle, and her every ensemble.
Who doesn't love any romantic comedy featuring Julia Roberts? Honestly, the entire cast is a goldmine of talent, including Billy Crystal, Catherine Zeta-Jones, John Cusack and Hank Azaria. Definitely a must-see.
Ryan Reynolds as an adorable dad explaining love to his daughter will never get old.
License to Wed
This adorably funny film starring Mandy Moore, John Krasinski, and Robin Williams will have you laughing and crying all in the same night, which is exactly what we love in a romantic comedy.
If you're going to fall in love at the age of 12, this is the way to do it.
13 Going on 30
There are SO many reasons to watch Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo in 13 Going on 30, and their romance is a huge part of it. Who doesn't love watching friendship blossom into love?
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
If he doesn't create an entire puppet show based on your relationship, were you even together?
For the fantasy lover, we have Stardust. It has all the classic notes you to need in your rom-com, as well as swashbuckling adventure to give you an extra kick!
