Musical artists keep blessing our ears with virtual performances [1] in these times of social distancing, and Sam Smith is the latest to get in on the action. The singer, songwriter, and angel on Earth just crooned their own rendition of "What the World Needs Now Is Love," a 1965 hit popularized by Jackie DeShannon. The song features rather poignant and timely lyrics, most notably including the opening line: "What the world needs now is love, sweet love. It's the only thing that there's just too little of."

When Smith shared the heavenly cover on Instagram, they captioned the video, "Just woke up. Having a coffee and felt like singing . . . I haven't felt like singing for a few weeks now. Feels good. Have a beautiful day today everyone. The sun is out for you." Consider our spirits lifted. Hear Smith's full cover in the video ahead, and kindly join us in crossing your fingers that they do a full-fledged livestream concert soon [2], too.
