Michael B. Jordan is about to put a shock to your system! On Oct. 16, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the 33-year-old star is producing a Static Shock movie [1] through his production company, Outlier Society. The film will center on DC Comics character Virgil Hawkins, a high schooler who becomes the hero Static after accidental exposure to a mutagen gives him electromagnetic powers. The project was first announced at DC FanDome in August when filmmaker and DC Comics writer Reginald Hudlin revealed that a movie was in the works [2].

"I'm proud to be a part of building a new universe centered around Black superheroes; our community deserves that," Jordan said in a statement. "Outlier Society is committed to bringing to life diverse comic book content across all platforms, and we are excited to partner with Reggie and Warner Bros on this initial step."
