Fresh off the box-office success of "The Batman," [1] Zoë Kravitz [2], who plays Selina Kyle/Catwoman in the Robert Pattinson-helmed film, made her "Saturday Night Live [3]" debut on March 12. At the start of the 33-year-old actor's monologue, "SNL" cast member Kate McKinnon [4], dressed as Catwoman, crashed the set. "To prepare for the role, I watched the movie musical Cats every day for a year, which is actually the same way I heard Joaquin Phoenix [5] prepared to play the Joker," Kravitz joked before McKinnon approached the Studio 8H stage in a leather dominatrix suit. "You're also Catwoman?" Kravitz asks McKinnon, who responds, "Yes, I'm Catwoman from the '90s, the one with the whip. You know, like cats have."
The longtime "SNL" cast member then proceeds to rattle off a very, um, bizarre origin story for her take on Catwoman. "OK, I fell out of a window onto a pile of cats," McKinnon says in the clip. "They licked me back to life, and now I dress like Sandy from a porno version of 'Grease.' It's still called 'Grease.'" Meanwhile, fellow "SNL" cast members Aidy Bryant [7] and Ego Nwodim also bombarded Kravitz's monologue, channeling "cat lady" and Eartha Kitt's version of Catwoman, respectively. Chris Redd, who randomly appears as Katt Williams, throws Kravitz for a loop. When she quips, "Oh come on, you're not even a woman," Redd responds, "I am a lover of women. Meow!"
On March 14, following Saturday's episode, Kravitz's father, Lenny Kravitz [8], and stepdad, Jason Momoa [9], praised her long-awaited "SNL" debut. "To see you shine in the same building where your grandparents met and worked was surreal. You were perfection. I love you endlessly," Lenny captioned a pair of Instagram photos [9] showing himself and Kravitz hanging out at Studio 8H. "So stoked for you. what a amazing moment. love u both ❤️❤️," Momoa commented on the post.
