A mother committed the most unthinkable act after giving birth to a baby boy — she left him inside a toilet at a Subway restaurant.

According to a customer at the fast-food chain, a woman left the restroom bleeding, and when the customer went inside to investigate, he saw the newborn half-submerged in toilet water. The little boy was crying and still had his umbilical cord attached.

The police said [1] they found the 38-year-old mother, Mary Grace Trinidad, about 20 minutes after the baby was discovered because she had left a trail of blood.

Although there's no explanation as to why the woman left her son in the bathroom, she has since been hospitalized and booked on attempted murder and child endangerment. Meanwhile, the baby is in neonatal intensive care at Queen of the Valley Hospital in California.
