What started out as a simple outing to a restaurant ended in a heartwarming gesture that left one mom grateful for the kindness of a stranger. She and her three children — including her 11-year-old son who has a stutter — were greeted at their table by a young waiter who took their order with patience, before coincidentally revealing something about himself: he, too, has a stutter.

"Mom, did you hear our waiter? He stutters also," her son said with a smile as the waiter, Ian, left the table. She hadn't even noticed it herself, nor did she realize how much of an impact Ian would have on her family until the end of their meal, when he left the family a note.

Sudden emotion came over me when I heard your son stutter. I myself stutter and developed it around his age. I know how hard it can be in the beginning.
