Some of my most vivid grade school memories revolve around the lunch table. It's where secretive classmate crushes were divulged, precious snacks [1] were traded ("Anyone wanna swap Bugles for Cheez-Its?"), annoying homework assignments were bemoaned, and mostly importantly, Lunchables were scarfed down. And now, I and other '90s kids [2] have the chance to relive those childhood days in a very millennial-approved way, thanks to the fact that Lunchables is releasing a new product dubbed — are you ready for this? — Brunchables.
The forthcoming product is essentially a breakfast sandwich kit that comes in three different combinations: bacon and cheese, breakfast ham and cheese, and sausage and cheese. Each one offers between eight and 10 grams of protein and also comes with a blueberry muffin (though I'm personally already planning to pair mine with a homemade mimosa juice box).
Lunchables first teased Brunchables on social media on April 1 [3], leading many to believe the breakfast sandwich kits were simply a marketing ploy for April Fools' Day [4]. But alas, the brand quickly confirmed that Brunchables are, in fact, very real [5] and will hit grocery store shelves later this month (which will likely be about the same time your kids will start begging for them). I don't know about you, but I have a hunch these just might rival Lunchables' famed ham and cheese cracker stacks.
