Cheddar, Apple & Almond on Whole Wheat

Ingredients

  1. 4 slices whole wheat bread
    2 tsp unsalted butter
    2 tbsp toasted sliced almonds
    4 slices cheddar cheese
    1 crisp apple

Directions

To toast almonds: Place a heavy-bottomed skillet over medium heat. Add almonds and stir often, until they are golden brown.
To assemble the sandwich:
Remove the core of the apple and then slice it into ¼” slices
Butter 1 side of the bread with 1 tsp of room temp. butter, then sprinkle with the toasted almonds evenly. Place 1 slice of cheese on the almonds then top with slices of apple Then place another slice of cheese on top, add the last slice of bread, press down then cut the sandwich your child’s favorite way.
