If You're Allergic to Dairy or Wheat, You Need to Know About This Chef Boyardee Recall

Mar 11 2019 - 3:46pm

You might want to take a minute to clean out your pantry this week: in a statement on Saturday, the USDA initiated a recall [1] on nearly 3,000 pounds of Chef Boyardee [2] chicken and rice products, due to mislabeling and the possibility of "undeclared allergens." [3] Several of the 7.5-oz. microwavable Rice With Chicken & Vegetables bowls were misbranded and actually contain ravioli. As a result, the USDA is asking consumers to throw out or return any packages of the brand's chicken and rice products with a "best by" date of July 8, 2020, as they may contain traces of wheat or milk.

The contaminated products were shipped to retail locations in Florida, Kentucky, and New York, so concerned parents should make sure to double-check any Chef Boyardee Rice With Chicken & Vegetables products for the establishment number "EST. 794" at the bottom of the bowl or a package code of 210090151050045L. A list of the affected retail locations is set to be released on the FSIS website [5] when available. In the meantime, you are urged to contact Danielle Richardson at 1-(800)-921-7404 with any other questions you may have about the recall.
