When LAPD Officer John Neal Cooke reported to a crash site while on duty, he likely never expected to make a tiny new friend. Upon arriving at the scene [1] — in which a car had collided with a fire hydrant — Cooke was informed that the driver had fled, but there was a 2-year-old crying in the back seat. After rescuing the baby from the vehicle, Cooke attempted to hand the boy a bottle that was found with him, but the little guy just wanted to be held and hugged, so Cooke did just that. "The mom did a monstrous thing in abandoning her child," Cooke said.
