Creamy Orzo With Shredded Crabmeat

Crabmeat is a source of protein and contains good amounts of DHA omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin A, folate, calcium, magnesium, and potassium. It is a delicate food and goes well with creamy sauces, as well as eggs.

Best for 9- to 11-month-old babies.

  1. 1/2 onion
    1 tablespoon butter
    1 tablespoon flour
    1/2 cup yogurt
    2 cups chicken stock
    1 pound cooked crabmeat
    4 cups cooked orzo
    1 teaspoon walnut oil


  1. Mince the onion finely. In a pan, heat the butter and cook the onions on low heat until they are translucent, 5 to 7 minutes.
  2. Add flour and cook for 2 minutes.
  3. Add yogurt and stock and stir until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add crabmeat, then the orzo, and toss.
  5. Drizzle with walnut oil.
  6. Serve warm.
