A Canada dad and ice sculptor just made his daughters' dreams come true [1] with an elaborate faux Hogwarts scene set up on the family's front lawn . . . made entirely out of ice. Kelly Davies, who created an ice slide decorated with various sea creatures last Winter, got excited once snow began to fall on Jan. 19. His two daughters, 8-year-old Anna and 6-year-old Julia, are both "head over heels for Hogwarts and all things Harry Potter [2]," so the dad knew he wanted to use the franchise as the theme [3] for this Winter's front lawn creation.
The dad began carving elements of the Hogwarts Great Hall out of blocks of ice he made using snow packed into wooden boxes the morning after the big snowfall, and as of Feb. 7, he still wasn't finished. The scene features a replica of Albus Dumbledore's dining room chair, an ice slide lit from underneath, and large pillars topped with torches and decorated with owls.
We can't exactly compete with this Harry Potter playground and will likely stick to building snowmen with our kids after the next big snowfall — but damn, this is impressive.
