Are you near a calendar? We have a date that you need to circle with a big red marker: March 20, because Dairy Queen [2] is giving away free ice cream! The food chain [3] is celebrating its fourth annual Free Cone Day [4], in honor of the first day of Spring, according to Delish.

"We're excited for our fourth annual Free Cone Day," Maria Hokanson, executive vice president of marketing for American Dairy Queen Corporation, said in a statement. "This day has become a spring tradition and a sign that warmer weather is upon us."

Last year, Dairy Queen raised $300,000 [5] for local hospitals on Free Cone Day, so this year, customers are being asked to make donations to help raise money for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals [6].

So start counting down the days with us until March 20, when you can get your hands on a free small vanilla soft serve cone (one per person) at participating Dairy Queen locations (which excludes DQs in malls) and DQ Grill & Chill restaurants.
