Daphne Oz's Nutty Banana-Cherry Kale Smoothie

"Cold weather isn’t when you normally think of settling in with a cool frozen smoothie, but it remains one of my all-time favorite ways to start the day for two reasons: it's a snap to whip up, and it loads me up with powerful nutrients first thing so that at least I start the day on a healthy kick," says host of The Chew and expectant mom Daphne Oz.

Ingredients

  1. 1/2 frozen banana or avocado
    1/3 cup frozen cherries/blueberries/strawberries/mango
    1 giant handful kale or baby spinach, washed and dried
    1/3 cup yogurt or almond milk
    1 tablespoon chia seeds (you can use ground flax seeds instead, if you like)
    1-2 teaspoons Nutzo No-Peanut Nut Butter
    Frozen lime or lemon juice
    Water to blend
    Nutribullet or other high-powered blender

Directions

  1. Add enough water to blend, and whir all these all together to make a super easy, nutritious, and relatively delicious (considering you're basically putting a salad in your smoothie! The Nutzo and fruit really help mask this flavor) morning smoothie.
