Your child's favorite Disney Junior family, the McStuffins, are becoming a family of five this Spring — and no, Mrs. McStuffins isn't expecting — they're adopting!

Beginning March 4, Disney Junior is airing a series of new episodes featuring the adoption journey — from announcing Baby McStuffins to bringing the baby home. Your kiddos can follow along as Doc and her family go through all of the exciting steps necessary to get ready for the new addition, and they'll learn all about the feelings associated with this type of change.

Children's shows can have a significant impact on how their young viewers understand the world, so it's wonderful that Disney Junior is depicting adoption as a normative, positive way to form a family. Even more than that, it's heartening that the producers sought professional input in order to 'get it right' about the language, people and sensitivities involved.
