It's easy for a child to forget that a test score is simply a number. Although important, it doesn't determine how smart a student is and it definitely doesn't say anything about who they are. To remind primary seven (the final year) students of Harmony Hill Primary School [1] in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, a sweet letter was included in every envelope enclosing exam scores. The letter, which was tweeted by Deputy Chair of the Northern Ireland Assembly Chris Lyttle [2], reassures the recipient that regardless of the results, "You are quite simply 'unique' and we are very proud of you." It then goes on to say that "the score in the envelope is just a mark for some test. It cannot measure how amazing you are!" Ahead is the incredible reminder of each student's self-worth that could've otherwise been diminished by a low grade. We applaud this encouraging message and wish more schools would do the same!
