"The response was overwhelming and not just because it was an active-duty photo but because every working mom saw herself in that photo," photographer Tara Ruby [2], who orchestrated that shoot, told POPSUGAR.

It was such positive feedback that inspired her to begin a new portrait series for the "mother who has to put on a uniform every day to go to work but that still nurses her babies at night." Her first subject? This firefighter, in head-to-toe tactical gear, breastfeeding her newborn baby.
