Fisher-Price Issued a Warning to Parents After 10 Infants Died as a Result of This Product

Apr 6 2019 - 7:20am

Parents, while sleepers are a great way to let your baby play and nap, it's time to seriously be careful when using this popular Fisher-Price product after your baby reaches a certain age. The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a warning on Friday [1] alerting consumers to an infant mortality rate associated with the Fisher Price Rock 'N Play sleeper.

According to the report, 10 instances of infant death have been recorded since 2015 as a result of babies rolling from their back to their side or their stomach while laying in the product unrestrained. The CPSC recommends consumers stop using the product with babies three months of age or older, as this is the age when babies typically begin to roll over on their own. If consumers do continue to use the products, they are highly encouraged to used the product's built-in restraint system.

Fisher Price and CPSC also encourage parents and consumers to practice safe sleeping practices for babies [3]. This includes removing unnecessary blankets, pillows, stuffed toys, or other items from the infant's environment and placing them to sleep on their backs. For more information, visit the CPSC website [4].
