The Story Behind 1 Girl With Autism Singing "Hallelujah" Is Just as Beautiful as Her Voice

Kaylee Rodgers is seriously talented; her incredible voice is giving chills to strangers across the world as a video of her singing "Hallelujah" is going viral in time for the holidays. However, this 10-year-old girl from Ireland has autism and ADHD, and she was once so shy [1] that she wasn't even comfortable speaking in front of her class — until the encouragement of a dedicated teacher.

Although Kaylee exudes confidence as she stands in front of her classmates during her stunning (and tear-inducing!) rendition of the beloved song, that wasn't always the case [2]. "She always loved singing, but it wasn't until she started at Killard House School that she really came into her own," Kaylee's mom, Tracy Rodgers, told BBC. "[Mr. Scates is] like her safety blanket ― he's amazing."

Killard House's principal, Colin Millar, is also impressed with Kaylee's transformation from a shy student [3] into a breathtaking performer. "For a child who came in P4 and wouldn't really read out in class, to stand and perform in front of an audience is amazing," Colin told ITV. "It takes a lot of effort on Kaylee's part."
