After getting a new phone number through work, I started getting a bunch of texts from a few people that clearly weren't aware that the owner of the number before me had parted with its seven digits. Every once in a while, the texts seem important enough for me to answer with "sorry, wrong number!" so they could hopefully get in touch with the person another way, but other times, responses definitely weren't necessary. For one dad though, when he received an accidental text that he probably could have gone ignored, he decided to answer it anyway [3], and what happened next is going to brighten your whole damn day.

On Feb. 18, Tony Wood, a father of six, received two photos from a woman named Syd who was trying dresses on and seemed to be looking for a second opinion on the floor-length navy blue number. Rather than ignore Syd, he responded thoughtfully: "I believe this message was intended for someone else. My wife isn't home so I couldn't get her opinion, but the kids and I think you look stunning in your dress! You should definitely go with that one!" To prove that five of his kids really did approve of the navy dress, Tony sent along an adorable photo of his kids giving Syd's ensemble the thumbs up.

Syd's friend, Mandi Miller, then tweeted out the text exchange [5], which is when the story took an unexpected turn. After Mandi's tweet went viral, Tony saw it and responded to the situation further.

Hello! Apparently you have made my children Twitter famous! My 2nd youngest (not pictured, he was at chemo clinic) has a FB page for his fight against Leukemia and one of our Prayer Warriors recognized the children! Btw, my wife agreed that the dress looked great! God Bless!

When Tony revealed that the reason his wife couldn't share her opinion on the dress was because she was with their son, Kaizler — who has Leukemia — at his chemotherapy session [7], the internet responded in a big way. Another Twitter user did some digging, found the family's GoFundMe account [8] that was set up over two years ago to help with some of the medical expenses, and replied to the original tweet with the link so people could donate. Since then, the family's goal of $10,000 has been nearly doubled.

You're very kind. Here is a thumbs up from Kaizler! pic.twitter.com/hHbl48Zkc7 [9]

"The kindness and generosity of Twitter and other venues saw our GoFundMe account surpass our goal last night!" Tony tweeted on March 11 [11]. "I can't begin to thank everyone enough! This is a major hour of need for us and this blessing will help more than you know! God Bless all of you!"
