Kristin Cavallari is getting really candid about a common breastfeeding woe. In a recently released trailer for her reality show, Very Cavallari [1], the mom of three [2] revealed that her husband, Jay Cutler, once had to manually help her unclog her milk ducts. "I had, like, major clogged ducts. Jay had to get them out for me — sucking harder than he's ever sucked," Kristin said. "You know what? Saved my life."
Though she was laughing while saying it — and despite the fairly shocked expressions of those seated around her — Kristin's story is pretty common. In fact, Dax Shepard did the very same thing to help wife Kristen Bell with her clogged milk duct [3]! Unfortunately, a milk duct blockage can occur if there are changes in breastfeeding frequency, among a variety of other causes. Though it might be painful, the best way to treat the blockage is to continue nursing and keep things moving, so to speak. (Mastitis [4] is a similar issue, however, it typically involves an infection.)
