Military Mom Creates Holiday Magic For Her Girls With an Epic Elf on the Shelf Wedding

Dec 8 2016 - 10:50am

Before Christina Frost's girls were born, she fell in love with her sister's family tradition — she started with one Elf on the Shelf [1] who eventually got married, and shortly after baby elves arrived in the hopes that one day, when her four little ones had families of their own, she would be able to pass down one elf to each family.

Now that Christina is a mom to two girls, this sweet tradition has even more importance [2] to her. "My family is a military family and because of this we move, a lot, and in turn try to create traditions within our small family that can be passed down," Christina told POPSUGAR.

This holiday season, her husband is stationed in Hawaii while the rest of the family is living in Wisconsin, so Christina wanted to make December feel a bit more magical for her girls while they're missing their dad. Her 4-year-old and 8-year-old girls had asked last year when their elf, Carly-Tina Flower-Blossom, was going to get married. "Because I teach full time and am the only parent at home right now time is very limited and I knew to pull off the perfect Elf on the Shelf I would have to be sneaky," Christina said. Luckily, just like Santa and his elves, Christina has an off season and was able to get to work on her idea over the Summer. She scooped up Carly and her new male friend and took pictures of the pair in various positions against a piece of white paper.

"I made them pose with specific photos in mind; I knew I wanted to share a few wedding photos as well as a trip to Hawaii, a place near and dear to our hearts as we had lived there from 2009 to 2012 and spent this past Summer visiting my husband," Christina said. She then photoshopped the newlyweds in festive backgrounds on their wedding day and throughout their honeymoon.

She turned all of her creative photos into two special albums for her daughters to discover. "One of my favorite parts of this project was doing it all from home," Christina said. "Creating Christmas magic and holiday memories doesn't have to cost a dime!" When the girls woke and discovered Tina's arrival, they screamed with joy as they welcomed the newest member of their family (aptly taking Tina's last name as Jimmy-Jammy Flower-Blossom).

"My oldest little girl has [the album] tucked in her coat pocket to show anyone within walking distance and tells them that she can't believe how lucky she is to have a copy of the wedding album," Christina said. "She doesn't realize it, but I'm the lucky one — I have two beautiful little girls and seeing their sweet faces when they woke up to our elves made my whole holiday season a little brighter as we wait for Santa to bring home their daddy!"
