A New Mom Created the Most Hilarious Christmas "Tree" Hack — It's Basically Baby-Proof!

Dec 2 2018 - 10:05am

We get it: there are a lot of obstacles to putting up a full-size Christmas tree. If you're low on time, space, or energy, the idea of setting up a six-foot-tall, needle-shedding toddler death trap in the middle of your living room seems like a terrible idea.

One industrious new mom came up with a clever Christmas "tree" workaround that takes up hardly any space and can be fully decorated in less time than it takes your baby to nap.

"We just had a baby and our small apartment now has no room for a Christmas tree, so I had to improvise," Reddit user venusproxxy posted [1] alongside a photo of their version of an evergreen tree. "We hung garland and lights on our wall!"

Yep, the new parent affixed green garland in a zigzag tree pattern down her wall using 26 removable Command hooks, then strung white twinkly lights and a few gold bows with holly on the makeshift branches.

"It even smells like a Christmas tree," she joked.

Aside from saving space in tight quarters, the tree hack comes with a few other hidden benefits: compared to a traditional tree with any number of breakable glass and porcelain ornaments delicately hanging from wobbly tree limbs, this one isn't nearly as dangerous for babies, toddlers, and precocious pets. And not only that, but it's also a speedy alternative.

"It was pretty fast to assemble, too," she commented. "I was able to do it during one of his naps!"
