There I was, waiting in line with my 5-year-old daughter to see Santa. It was 10:40 a.m., and he wouldn't arrive until 11. About 20 families were in front of us, meaning we had a good hour ahead of us before she would get within 10 feet of the big man. It was worth it, not just because this particular Santa (stationed at The 900 Shops on Michigan Avenue, if you happen to be in Chicago this season) is seriously amazing both in look and action, and not just because my daughter was determined to deliver her wish list directly to the source, but also because watching moms and kids in line to meet Santa is endlessly fascinating.
Here's who you'll meet while you wait for a few minutes with St. Nick.
