10 Things You Definitely Didn't Know About Pink's Badass Approach to Parenting

Feb 14 2018 - 6:45pm

Between releasing a new album and performing at the Super Bowl [1] and the Grammys, it seems like Pink's been everywhere. And while there's no doubt that she's been keeping herself super busy, the gig she takes the most seriously of all is her role as "mom" to her 6-year-old daughter, Willow, and 1-year-old son, Jameson.

And to be honest, her two adorable kiddos are in luck because their mom is an all-around badass, whether she's delivering a speech about why little girls should be confident [2] or breastfeeding in public. The bottom line? Many mamas could take a page — or two or three — from Pink's playbook. Scroll through to see exactly how she approaches raising her adorable kiddos.

She's a fierce women's rights advocate.

Pink's been a symbol for strong women ever since she broke onto the music scene, but it seems like giving birth to a daughter has only made her more vocal, especially when it comes to supporting the Women's March [3]. The singer also didn't waste a second speaking out against Recording Academy President Neil Portnow's supercontroversial comment about how women in the music industry need to "step up." [4] You go, girl!

She's not above playing jokes on her kids.

Despite how stressful raising human beings can be at times, a little humor can go a long way — even if it's at your offspring's expense. In an Instagram post [5], Pink shared how she played a harmless prank on Willow: "I told Willow I was turning into Shrek. She actually believed me and got super worried and told me to stop it before it was too late. Parenting is fun. Happy Saturday."

She runs into the same everyday mom problems — just like the rest of us.

Even though she's a household name, Pink can't escape the everyday conundrums all moms face at some point. From catching the flu from her kids just in time to belt out the national anthem [6] at the Super Bowl to never taking enough photos with her children [7], she's gone through it all.

She's not exactly enthusiastic about moving the family Elf on the Shelf.

In a very relatable Instagram post around Christmastime [8], Pink explained how Willow unknowingly called her out for her lackluster Elf on the Shelf efforts, writing: "Translation: MOM FAIL, Santa, I am worried about Chippy, he has been in the same spot for three days. I don't know why."

She has zero fear about breastfeeding in public.

Pink is a badass through and through, and that applies to her approach to breastfeeding [9]. She regularly shares photos of herself feeding baby Jameson on Instagram [10], and we'd be lying if we said they didn't make us feel more confident and powerful than ever.

She loves bringing Willow on the red carpet with her.

While some celebs aren't too keen on the idea of their little ones being in the spotlight, Pink seems to have no problem with it whatsoever. During this award season alone, fans have spotted Willow by her mom's side at the Video Music Awards, the Country Music Awards [11], and the Grammys [12].

She's not afraid to say what we're all thinking when it comes to babies.

After a few sleepless nights, moms are especially in need of a laugh or two to get through the day. Pink was that support system for her friend recently and posted an incredibly blunt text conversation to Instagram [13] about how babies can be, well, difficult at times. Gotta love her for being candid.

She acknowledges that giving birth actually changes your body.

Sorry, but if you've ever given birth before, then you're fully aware of the physical changes that pregnancy inflicts on your body. And Pink realizes that getting back in shape doesn't happen overnight [14] — regardless of whether you're a famous performer or not.

She gets annoyed with her partner occasionally, just like everyone else in the universe.

While Pink and Carey Hart make one unstoppable duo, Pink explained that she loses her patience with her partner of 16 years every once in a while:

"And we go through moments where he's helping me off the ledge and telling me things that only he could tell me because he's known me that long. And then the next day I want to stab him with a fork [15]. And honestly, I look at him and I think, 'I've never liked you at all, there's nothing I like about you, I've never liked you, I'll never like you again.' And then five minutes later I'm like, 'You look really good in those jeans.' Being with the same person for a really long time — we're going on 16, 17 years now and we've grown up together — and it's work. But it's beautiful, it's worth it, otherwise we wouldn't do it.'"

She embraces the emotional bond motherhood fosters among women.

The mother of two shared how she broke down in the middle of a grocery store [16] with another mom, and the internet collectively gave her a sincere slow clap. The tweet read, "A really sweet Mama came up 2 me tonight at the grocery store and told me some nice words about how she gets strength from my parenting cause I'm not afraid to f*ck up in public. We cried together. It's so hard. Y'all. I wish us mamas could give ourselves and each other a break."
