The 23 Signs You're Not Completely Failing as a Parent

Jun 9 2016 - 1:20pm

Even though most people know that being a parent won't come without its struggles [1] before they have a baby on board, most just don't realize how hard it can be — at all times. One thing that makes parenthood even tougher is the uncertainty in regards to how you're actually doing. You don't get scored or graded for raising tiny human beings so it can be hard to judge if you're actually doing a pretty amazing job — despite it feeling like you're constantly messing everything up. Even if most of your days seem to have at least one major #MomFail [2], these are the 23 signs that you're actually a rock star mama!

You've gotten at least some of the essential gear figured out before they outgrew it.

You love them for who they are.

You make naptimes happen even if it isn't in the ideal location.

It might not always be made from scratch but it's always their favorite.

They are always clean at least some of the time.

Nobody (typically) gets left behind or forgotten.

You embrace their silliness.

You understand that creativity trumps the mess at least some of the time.

They're fearless in life.

Sometimes it feels like they're already smarter than you.

They're always fed — even if it isn't always your meal of choice.

They manage to get into everything they shouldn't.

They're genuinely happy.

You always manage to remember (and have!) their favorite snacks.

You take pride in their accomplishments.

They know what they want and aren't afraid to tell you.

You might not always remember, but you make it amazing when you do.

Your mom card has yet to be revoked.

They have a healthy set of lungs.

You always remember at least 75 percent of all of their stuff that you need to bring.

You're not always their best friend when it comes to holding them accountable.

Your track record is pretty good when it comes to remembering their shoes AND getting them on the right feet.

They can't imagine life without you.
