Why State Troopers Got Involved After a Group of 10-Year-Olds Missed Their Classmate's Birthday

One little boy was left devastated after not a single kid showed up to his birthday party — but that heartbreak didn't last long thanks to some local state troopers.

After none of the 21 kids from Toxey Andrews's class showed up for his 10th birthday celebration, his mom, Angela Andrews, posted about her son's disappointment on Facebook and asked parents to please consider sending their kids to parties when they get invited. "[I was] just heartbroken and helpless. It's the last thing you want to feel for your kid, that no one cared enough to come," Angela told KTHV [1].

A few Arkansas state troopers heard about the child's major letdown and decided to do something about it. When Toxey arrived home from school the following Monday, he was greeted by a caravan of five state troopers along with their dog.

"Not only did they bring him a birthday cookie cake, but they also brought him all kinds of presents, let him play with Rhino, the K-9, and play with the sirens in their cars," Angela wrote on Facebook [2]. "They ate his cake with him and played basketball with him. All out of the goodness of their hearts. They made my sweet baby's day, and his year!"

Photos of Toxey grinning with his new pals and gifts show that these strangers made a major impact. "I cried a little bit because they did that for me," Toxey said. "If I am remembering right, this is the only birthday that I have had with people coming."
