Vermont Airport Installs First Lactation Station

Airport Lactation Station Helps Nursing Moms

Nursing while on the go is never easy, but the Burlington, VT, International Airport aims to make breastfeeding and pumping a little easier with the installation of a Mamava lactation station, Today reports. The breastfeeding kiosk features easy-to-clean surfaces, a fold-down table, a power outlet, and space that can comfortably accommodate seating, a breast pump, luggage, and a stroller. Gene Richards, the airport's aviation director, says finding space for a place to make moms more comfortable was easy — it's in the former spot of an ATM and flat penny machine. And he expects the spot to be popular among nursing moms who travel and normally can't find a place to comfortably use a breast pump on a plane or on a short layover.

As Mamava cofounder Sascha Mayer confirms, when she traveled with her breast pump, "I'd end up using the pump in a public bathroom, but I know women who have had to use breast pumps in cars, storage closets, and some very unusual places when they travel."
