The 4 Things to Know Before Watching Frozen 2 on Disney+ With Your Kids

Sword fights, dark mist, Elsa coming face-to-face with a water horse that appears to want to hurt her, and more moments lend to a bit of anxiety and tension as you're watching Frozen 2. Your kids should be fine, but you might want to sit close to your toddler in case they get a little bit anxious so you can assure them that everything is going to be OK!

There were a couple of scenes that made me, a 29-year-old, jump. When you learn that there are rock giants lurking in the Enchanted Forest, see Elsa trying to run across the Dark Sea, or notice that there are purple fires spreading around Anna and Elsa, know that scenes like that are about as scary as it gets, but your younger kids might feel a little nervous during them.

Frozen handles the deaths of Anna and Elsa's parents, Queen Iduna and King Agnarr, pretty gracefully (it helps that their shipwreck is during "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?"). In Frozen 2, however, we learn more details about their deaths, and it's pretty sad. Another upsetting moment comes when Anna and Olaf are trapped in a cave together. Seeing Elsa and Anna become teary in these emotional moments could trigger your more sensitive kiddos, so just note that they're coming!

The running time on Frozen 2 is one hour and 43 minutes. Mostly gone are the days when kids' movies were less than an hour-and-a-half, so make sure to prep your kids to sit a while for this one. Acquire the necessary snacks and drinks to hold them over in theaters, but also make sure everyone's gone to the bathroom before it starts. If you need a mid-movie bathroom break, a good time to go quickly is right after Kristoff's '80s-esque song, "Lost in the Woods." You won't miss much, aside from one of Elsa's songs called "Show Yourself."
