Nothing else can punctuate the passage of time quite like the fact that Sharkboy and Lavagirl are now parents. Fifteen years after the release of The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 2005, fans of the original and a new generation of viewers are being invited on another superhero adventure in the upcoming sequel, We Can Be Heroes.

Coming to Netflix on New Year's Day, the movie follows the children of superheroes as they harness their powers to save their parents from aliens. While the original film's Taylor Dooley will reprise her role as Lavagirl, Taylor Lautner [1], who played Sharkboy, will not appear in the sequel [2]. Newcomers, on the other hand, include Priyanka Chopra, Christian Slater, and Pedro Pascal! (You may have heard of 'em.)
