Anxious parents can lead to anxious kids.
But there's something you can do about it. "If you're having stress and anxiety and it's ongoing, be sure you have someone to talk to," Denise says. "You have to have support for yourself — whether it's from a friend or psychologist."
As your kids get older, Denise says that it's OK to acknowledge your own anxieties around them. "Talk about what anxiety feels like and the effects that it can have on the brain and the physical body. Explain to them that it's not a bad thing — it also keeps us safe."
