Hilary Duff Took Her Oldest Son Luca on a Night Out to See "Back to the Future: The Musical"

We've all been fans of Hilary Duff ever since her "Lizzie McGuire" days in the early 2000s. It's hard to believe she's gone from playing a 13-year-old in the classic Disney Channel show to playing a soon-to-be mom of one in the Hulu "How I Met Your Mother" spinoff, "How I Met Your Father" — all in the span of 20 years. In that time, she also became a mom of three children in real life, and we love following along with her real-life children just as much as we like to theorize about who her her onscreen son's father is in "HIMYF."

Duff had her first child, a son named Luca Cruz Comrie, with first husband, Mike Comrie, in 2012 when she was 24 years old, which some thought was young. Still, Duff says she always knew she was ready to be a mom. "I think that I was just really ready," she told her "How I Met Your Father" costar Josh Peck in a March episode of the "Good Guys" podcast (via People), continuing, "I just decided after . . . my last tour, I was like, I need a serious break, and I need to lock myself in my house and like figure out how to take care of myself, feed myself, what I like, what I don't like." She added, "Then I met my first husband, [Mike], and like two years later, maybe three years later, I just felt really ready to open that chapter of my life."

Duff and Comrie amicably divorced in 2016, and while Duff admits raising a son amid her divorce and the growing divide between her and her young friends who were not yet having children was challenging, she said, "I wouldn't change it at all. And now my son, he's turning 11 in March." He's now old enough to enjoy things like musical theater, as Duff brought him to see "Back to the Future: The Musical" in London on March 27.

Duff has also welcomed two more children, Banks Violet and Mae James Blair, with her now-husband Matthew Koma, who she married in 2019.

Ahead, meet Duff's three kids and keep scrolling to see a ton of the cutest photos of her family.

Luca Cruz Comrie

On March 20, 2012, Duff welcomed her first child, a son named Luca, with her then-husband Mike Comrie. Although the pair split in 2016, Duff says she wouldn't choose anyone else to coparent her son with. We always love seeing new photos of Luca, especially since he's become a doting big brother.

On Luca's eighth birthday in 2020, Koma shared a bunch of snaps of the two of them together alongside an adorable caption on Instagram, writing, "It's this little dude's 8th birthday today and I couldn't be more proud + honored to watch him become the little man, son, brother and role model he is. Some of the perspective this kid brings into our world is actually mind blowing. We have each other's backs so hard and I've learned more from him than he'll ever realize. Thank you Luca, for letting me walk you into school, for walking me down the aisle, reigniting the kid in me, singing my songs with me, looking out for my dairy allergy, teaching me every good iPad game, watching 'Frozen' with your sister every morning, letting mom think you break things when I really do, and for just simply being you. We'll always, always be the 'sweet team'. Can't wait for you to read this in 15 years when you're allowed to have an Instagram."

Banks Violet Bair

On October 25, 2018, Duff welcomed her second child — her first with Koma — a daughter named Banks. How adorable is her unique name?!

On her first birthday in 2019, Duff shared a photo montage of Banks's first year around the sun with the sweet caption: "Banks 🐻 what a year. You made mommy a mommy again, you made daddy a daddy(the absolute best) you made bruvah a brother (the absolute best) you are spirited and funny and brave and edible and we are so lucky that on this day one year ago you made your arrival and made our family the four pack that we are! Happy birthday beautiful...you get all the birthday cake today!"

Mae James Bair

Hilary's third child — her second with Koma — a baby girl named Mae, was born on March 24, 2021. The new mom of three shared a photo from Mae's home birth to announce her daughter's arrival, writing, "We LOVE you beauty."

In a 2021 episode of the "Informed Pregnancy" podcast, Duff explained the inspiration behind her little one's name. "Both of [Matt and my] moms were born in May, so we thought that was a cute little homage to our mothers. And we obviously spelled it different than the month of May, but that's just because we liked the spelling better," she said, adding that she and Matt simply liked the middle name James. In the week after her daughter's birth, Duff used the nickname "Mae Mae" to refer to her — does it get any cuter?
