This Dad's Song About the Phenomenon That Is Decorating For Christmas Early Is Spot On

Autumn - "Poison" Bell Biv DeVoe Parody [1]

It's not even Halloween, and Christmas decorations have already hit the store shelves. Are secretly excited or seriously confused? (By the way... it's AUTUMN.)

While waiting in line to pick up a prescription at my local pharmacy, I nudged my fiancé and nodded toward the holiday section. It was Oct. 12, so it's not out-of-this-world insane that I expected to see pumpkin and witch decorations [3] adorning the aisle, and thus not surprising that I was shocked to see snowmen, Santa Clauses, and tree lights. I don't remember this phenomenon of preparing and decorating for Christmas [4] in the Fall occurring when I was a kid, but now it's Halloween [5] in July and Christmas in September for all of the big-box stores, and even though decorating for Christmas earlier makes you happier [6], it appears I'm not alone in feeling like this is all just too much.

In a hilarious video posted to Facebook, the Holderness Family parodied Bell Biv Devoe's "Poison" and created a new song about the insanity that is decorating for the holidays [7] early. Instead of the line being "This girl is poison," Penn Holderness whines, "You guys, it's AUTUMN." And he's too right. Whether your rainbow Christmas tree [8] is already up or not, this video is absolutely hysterical (and spot on) — see it in full above.
