While waiting in line to pick up a prescription at my local pharmacy, I nudged my fiancé and nodded toward the holiday section. It was Oct. 12, so it's not out-of-this-world insane that I expected to see pumpkin and witch decorations [1] adorning the aisle, and thus not surprising that I was shocked to see snowmen, Santa Clauses, and tree lights. I don't remember this phenomenon of preparing and decorating for Christmas [2] in the Fall occurring when I was a kid, but now it's Halloween [3] in July and Christmas in September for all of the big-box stores, and even though decorating for Christmas earlier makes you happier [4], it appears I'm not alone in feeling like this is all just too much.
In a hilarious video posted to Facebook, the Holderness Family parodied Bell Biv Devoe's "Poison" and created a new song about the insanity that is decorating for the holidays [5] early. Instead of the line being "This girl is poison," Penn Holderness whines, "You guys, it's AUTUMN." And he's too right. Whether your rainbow Christmas tree [6] is already up or not, this video is absolutely hysterical (and spot on) — see it in full above.
