Marcus Hill, a father from Murfreesboro, TN, is sharing a seriously heartwarming family tradition [3]. This past Valentine's Day, Marcus decided to surprise his wife by making her breakfast in bed with the help of his 7-year-old son [4], MJ. But apparently, MJ liked the experience so much it quickly became a sweet Sunday-morning tradition.
"After Valentine's Day, MJ really fell in love with it," Marcus told POPSUGAR. "I was so surprised. I think MJ likes cooking [5] because it makes him feel like a big boy, and to be honest, we have so much fun doing it. I actually added the music a few weeks afterwards and I noticed he would be trying to sing the songs while dancing!"
After Marcus began incorporating music and dancing into their Sunday-morning routine, the fun only multiplied, so he started sharing heartwarming videos on social media, and his friends and family absolutely adored seeing the pair's bonding sessions.
"Once I saw that, I would turn the music up even more and we would just have fun, dance, and have a blast in the kitchen while Mommy was in her bedroom," he shared. "It kind of took off from there and we have been doing it ever since. It's crazy because he actually knows the words of songs from hearing them so much! Now it's kind of our thing. We cook — or sometimes grill — breakfast while listening to a variety of music."
Both Marcus and MJ are thrilled about the traction their videos are getting. Marcus hopes their Sunday-morning cooking sessions will inspire other parents to start their own family traditions. "I know this may sound cliché, but to be honest, just make memories, show love with your kids, have fun, and do what makes you all happy!" he said.
