Keep These 5 Things From Your 2018 Wardrobe

Jan 11 2019 - 11:10am

New year, new you. I am all for that sentiment. But a "new you" does not necessarily mean you have to rid yourself everything you invested in last year's wardrobe. There are plenty of items and trends that will serve you as well in 2019 as they did in 2018.

Those "dad sneakers [1]" you bought (and defended to everyone in your family)? They are still street style star-approved. And if you didn't have a chance (or the budget) to pick up on these other spill-over trends, have no fear. Nordstrom [2] is here! They have endless options at affordable prices of the five biggest trends that we loved so much last year, we're wearing them again this year.

Pastels

Last year taught us that it doesn't need to be Spring to wear something pastel. This faux fur coat [3] ($160) is the most perfect shade of lilac, a perfect, snuggly pick me up during a long Winter. Look for pastels in unexpected textures, like cashmere, wool, and as seen here, faux fur, for this fun play on seasons.

Bike Shorts With Blazers

If it's good enough for a Kardashian, it's good enough for us! Wearing bike shorts [4] ($39) outside of the house is still no longer reserved for walking to your local gym. Pair a black cotton pair with an oversize blazer and Oxford shirt, like Something Navy's Arielle Charnas has done here for her Nordstrom collection [5].

Resin Jewelry

You don't need a million bucks to have a piece of statement-making jewelry. Thanks to designers creatively using inexpensive materials like resin, you can have a pair of oversize hoop earrings [6]($26) in interesting color ways for under $30!

Glamleisure

Say it with me: glamleisure. It rolls off the tongue, no? Last year, we saw a resurgence of some of our favorite retro brands (Champion [7], FILA [8], Adidas [9]) and this year, we're seeing modern takes on those designs by activewear's hottest new designers. Need proof? Look no further than Beyonce's Ivy Park [10], specifically this Spliced Striped Hoodie [11] ($115).

Dad Sneakers

And while we're on the subject of FILA [12], MUST. BUY. MORE. DAD. SNEAKERS. And I think I found my next perfect pair in these '90s redux Spaghetti Low Sneakers [13] ($90).
