Alexander McQueen Eyewear Spring '10 Ads With Skull 2010-06-17 15:00:22

Fab Ad: Alexander McQueen Eyewear, Spring '10

Forget about living models, Alexander McQueen's Spring '10 eyewear campaign features dead ones. Continuing its love affair with skeletons, McQueen's latest are in-your-face, literally. The snakeskin pattern that's quickly become a signature for the house takes the background, while a gigantic digitized skull, clad with cool McQueen shades, takes front and center. Yes, real models are more beautiful — they have hair and makeup working for them — but this makes quite the statement. You approve?

I completely love the imagery.

I think that's exactly why they did it. People would expect the brand to shy away from its dark, slightly morbid streak in light of his death, but that's not the spirit of Alexander McQueen. The original hope was to make beautiful things that defy what's expected.

Um... yes, it's a little freaky, not in general but because the namesake designer just died. Seems a little too soon.
