Alice + Olivia Spring Will Make You Feel Just Like a Kid in a Candy Store
Taking a trip to view Alice + Olivia Spring 2015 is a lot like being a kid in a candy store, if you happen to be a girl who loves fashion. Even more so if you happen to be a girlie-girl who loves feminine fits, bold prints, and dresses that were made for making an entrance. In the same way a whimsical display of treats can overwhelm a child with a sweet tooth, the sheer sight of so much embellishment and color was a little like sensory overload when we first stepped inside the ballroom at NYC's iconic Pierre Hotel to view the collection.
Stacey Bendet doesn't hold back — especially when this season's inspiration point is a visit to Versailles, France — because when opulence is your jumping-off point, you can never really go too far. Here, Bendet borrows a bit from the genres every girl loves, giving us a modern romance in one moment, with a full-length lavender chiffon gown that's topped with a leather shell or a floor-grazing floral skirt that's paired with a striped button-down. There's a bit of rock and roll, too, in the hints of leather or the studded crop top and skirt set, but where Stacey excels, as always, is in crafting the quirky and whimsical with wearability. She makes us want to wear a bright blue jumper decorated with a zebra to the office, or a beaded, slightly bohemian sweatshirt even if we're just running errands.
